Volunteer with us

Our official volunteer call-out for this year's festival has now closed, but it takes a dedicated community of word-lovers to bring Words in Winter to life every single year. We are already looking ahead to 2027 and would love to have you join our enthusiastic team!

Check out the details below to discover why our volunteers are the heart of the festival, and sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when future applications open.

Why volunteer during the festival?

Volunteer
01

Be part of the exciting event atmosphere

Enjoy the unique buzz of helping a community literary event run smoothly. You'll meet fellow word lovers, gain hands-on event experience, and play a vital role in bringing winter creativity to life.

02

Get behind-the-scenes access to author talks and activities

Rub shoulders and talk shop with local and visiting authors. You'll gain insider insight into the literary world, hear fascinating conversations up close, and walk away with stories (and maybe even writing tips) straight from the pros.

03

Meet fellow book lovers in your community

You'll connect with like-minded people in a warm, welcoming atmosphere, make new friends, and become part of a vibrant literary network that extends far beyond the five-day festival.

04

Choose shifts to fit your schedule

Volunteer for one day, multiple days, or all five, and choose morning, afternoon, or evening sessions that work for you. Whether you have a few hours to spare or want to dive into the full festival experience, we'll find a role that suits your availability.
